HOMEMADE PANDESAL

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 ½ tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour (plus more for kneading)
  • 1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs

Procedures:

  • In a bowl, combine ¼ cup warm water, 1 ½ tsp instant dry yeast and 1 tsp sugar. Stir well. Allow to sit for 10 minutes or until mixture becomes bubbly.
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup lukewarm milk, ¼ cup melted butter, 2 beaten eggs, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp salt. Mix together until combined.
  • Gradually add 2 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix until combine.
  • Add the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  • Then, add the remaining 2 cups of flour. Mix until it forms into a dough.
  • Dust a clean work surface with flour. Place the dough onto the floured surface and sprinkle with flour.
  • Knead dough until it becomes smooth. Add flour at a time until dough is no longer sticking to fingertips.
  • Put some oil in a bowl, then place the dough into it.
  • Cover with cloth and allow to rise for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
  • Dust the clean work surface with flour. Place the dough and sprinkle with flour.
  • Cut into pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  • Roll each piece on fine breadcrumbs to coat.
  • Cover with cloth and allow to rise for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350 F / 175 C for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve hot.
